Lesson 2 Membership Resources
Fifteen states have full member status in CARICOM. The Bahamas is the only full member that has not joined the CARICOM Single Market (CSM). The Associate members are not independent. Of note, Montserrat ( a full member) is also NOT independent. The Dominican Republic has expressed interest in becoming a full member of CARICOM. It would be the first Spanish speaking member if successful. |
In Class
Here are your tasks once you have collected your information:
- Fill in a regional outline map showing the member countries in the Federation, CARICOM, and OECS. You will need to create an appropriate key to distinguish organizations. You will be given a copy in class, or you can download and print the map if convenient.
- Join in our discussion: Why are some countries members of CARICOM, OECS, and ACS while other countries do not belong to all of them?
- After you understand the difference, you will write a short paragraph accounting for the difference in membership. Please refer to the paragraph rubric used for assessment.
- Using the lesson resources, start drafting a presentation on four members of CARICOM. You may create a paper-based or a digital presentation as you prefer. Some tools to consider for a digital presentation include: Google Slides, Prezi and PowerPoint. Please refer to the assessment rubric for this assignment.
